April GT Blog Topic
Where does your gifted child fall in the birth order of your children? Are they an only child, the first born, middle child or youngest? If you have multiple gifted children, where do they fit in? What impact do you think birth order has on the characteristics of your gifted child?

Mine is the third child out of four.
ReplyDeleteAll three of my children are gifted. My oldest daughter, ( who is now a grown adult, a college graduate and successful professional ) was not formally identified as GT, but I am sure she is. The first time I even heard of GT was when my son, (middle child), was tested in second grade. Through research and resources like the HSD2 Advisory Council, I learned what being GT was about and the gifts and challenges they faced. So when my youngest daughter was identified, I was in a much better position as a parent to support and nurture her giftedness. I think the younger GT children have an advantage because they can learn from their older siblings, and follow the path that they have paved. ----MXT
