Hello gifted students! I am Erika Tunson and I am the new Elementary Gifted and Talented Coordinator. I am going to be updating the blog monthly and I am anxious to get your posts! This month I will post the topic but I would ask that you write some topics you would be interested in blogging about at the end of your post this month. Next month I hope to use a student generated topic!
Let's get figurative! I mean let's play with figurative language this month. When I was in 5th grade I was identified as a gifted student so I understand what it is like to be gifted in a classroom where most students are not. Create a metaphor a simile for the following statement: Being a gifted student is...
My example: Being a gifted student is like being a sunny, warm day in the late fall. It is unexpected, even unusual and everyone loves it. They even comment on how lovely the day is. The problem is it is uncommon and it could change and be cold and gray the next day. Then, people are disappointed.
This blog is meant to provide an opportunity for parents of gifted and talented students in Harrison School District to share their experiences and ideas. Monthly discussion topics will be posted about academic, social and emotional aspects of giftedness to allow for online dialogue. Please remember that this is a public forum, so keep comments confidential in regard to child name, other students, teacher and school. Comments that violate this confidentiality will be deleted.
